About SurveyGenie

Built by researchers.
For researchers.

SurveyGenie exists because all of my personal research got deleted one day by a major survey provider. Member polls, leadership surveys, population studies (yes, I've done those for fun), new brand research. A particularly quirky study I'd spent almost a year of free time on, entirely centered on understanding affluent cheapskates. All gone, and unrecoverable. Poof.

How could this happen? Was I hacked? No — a paid account of mine had gotten quietly downgraded. Without warning, this company-who-shall-not-be-named wiped every response I had — except the last 25 per survey. Thousands of responses, across dozens of studies, gone. The kicker? They kept the incomplete, bot-looking garbage. They just threw out the clean, good, high quality data. Oh and just for fun, I had to pay $100/month just for the pleasure of downloading those 25 responses per survey, because they don't allow downloads on the free tier. Thanks for that.

Yes, I should have been downloading backups consistently. But I trusted that my data was safe and I honestly hadn't given it a second thought. I'd also spent tens of thousands of dollars with them over a decade, and storing text responses costs essentially nothing. They deleted my data because they could — and because nothing in the category stopped them.

I founded Shareablee, the world's leading social-media measurement platform that was acquired by Comscore, and have spent over 15 years building measurement technology and running research for some of the largest and most innovative brands, publishers and creators in the world.

SurveyGenie is what happens when you take everything that's wrong with this category — stale builders, bot-riddled panels, exploitative pricing, and the quiet contempt that lets a vendor throw away your data to push an upgrade — and rebuild it with AI, transparency, and a fair-pay model at the core.

Why we built this

Three problems the category refused to solve.

01

The data wasn't clean.

Industry bot and fraud rates sit around 40% on most commodity panels. Enterprise teams have known this for years and built sprawling quality-control workflows to deal with it. Mid-market teams mostly don't — which means half the "consumer insights" shaping brand decisions are noise, and nobody wants to talk about it.

02

The tools hadn't evolved.

SurveyMonkey launched in 1999. Qualtrics in 2002. The question-building experience has barely changed since. Meanwhile the rest of the software world has been reinvented twice. We can do better than a drag-and-drop editor from the George W. Bush era.

03

Respondents were being exploited.

Most research panels pay consumers about 10–15% of what researchers spend. That's why response quality is what it is — nobody respects the people generating the data. Fix the incentive, and quality follows. That's not a theory; it's what our panel completion rates demonstrate.

AI — real, purpose-built AI for writing surveys, probing open-ends, scoring quality, and generating insights — combined with a fair-pay panel and transparent pricing, is what the next decade of research should look like. That's what we're building.

How we think

Four principles we don't compromise on.

Principle 01

Respondents are partners, not inventory.

Every dollar a researcher spends on our panel is split 50/50 with the respondent. It's itemized at checkout. It's auditable. It's how our panel gets the completion rates it does, and it's non-negotiable.

Principle 02

Quality is free, not enterprise-only.

Fraud scoring, attention checks, device fingerprinting — these ship on every plan, including the free tier. The category has gated "data quality" as an enterprise feature for years. We refuse.

Principle 03

AI does real work, not cringe work.

Purpose-built AI for the actual stages of research: drafting surveys from briefs, probing thin open-ends, theming qualitative data, generating exec summaries. Not AI for writing subject lines.

Principle 04

Pricing is transparent.

Flat per-user tiers, itemized panel costs, no "contact sales" games, no hidden minimums. The list price on our landing page is the price you pay. Enterprise is where we negotiate volume — not where we keep the real pricing hidden.
